PLAN OF SALVATION

Where Will You Spend Eternity?

According to God’s Word there are only two eternal destinies where people go when they die: heaven or hell.  Jesus spoke more about hell than He did about heaven because He wanted to warn us of such a horrible place.  The final destiny of all those who do not receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior is called the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:15: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

What Are You Trusting In?

Did you know that this world is full of people who are trying to get to heaven when they die?  That is why there are so many religions in the world today.  The problem with that is that you won’t get to heaven by trying – you will only get to heaven by trusting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Every false religion in the world is founded on a works based salvation.  Matthew 7:21-23 is perhaps one of the most sobering passages in all of the Bible.  It tells us of a great host of people standing before the Lord at the Great White Throne Judgment.  These people lift their voices in protest because they are condemned to an eternity in hell.  They believe that a mistake has been made, and they are trying to persuade God with their credentials for entering heaven.  Rather than being impressed, God declares to them that He never knew them.  As you read the scripture below you will see that these are people who think that they deserve heaven. Matthew 7:21-23
: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

We can clearly learn from this scripture that there are “many” people who think that they are going to heaven when they die, but are sadly mistaken.  What gives them such a false hope of heaven?  They are trusting in their own good deeds.  The people being described sound like they might be church members, and so many people today believe that because their name is on a church roll they will gain entrance into heaven.  Others, regardless of their church affiliation, believe that God will accept them on the basis of their good works, or that they refrain from lying, cheating, stealing or other sinful vices.
The Bible teaches that we cannot earn heaven.  Jesus Christ is the Only Way to heaven!

John 14:6:  “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.“

How To Know For Sure That You Are Going To Heaven When You Die

1.  Realize that you are a sinner.  You must agree with God on your condition.

Romans 3:10: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ”
Romans 5:12:  “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

2.  Realize that sin has a price.  Sin has a price and that price is separation from God for all eternity.

Romans 6:23a: “For the wages of sin is death…”
John 3:36  “…he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

3. Realize that you cannot save yourself.  Your best works are not good enough to pay your sin debt.

Isaiah 64:6: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…”
Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:5: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”

4. Realize that Jesus died to pay your sin debt.  He died in your place.  He loves you!

Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

5. Receive Jesus Christ right now as your personal Savior.  He will not force Himself into your heart – He must be invited.

I John 5:11-12: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
Romans 6:23b“…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ”
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

TRUST CHRIST TO SAVE YOU RIGHT NOW

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

If you would like to receive Christ as your Savior, don’t put it off, invite Him into your heart right now!  Here is a simple prayer that will help you: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I, like everyone else, deserve hell, and I know that there is nothing that I can do that will merit heaven.  I thank you for dying on the cross for me and I thank you for paying my sin debt.  I ask you to save me right now, and I invite you into my heart and life to be my personal Savior.  Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life.  In Jesus Name I pray – Amen!”
